In 2012,Shotley Parish Council purchased 7 acres of woodland and 50 acres of foreshore adjacent to the River Stour at Shotley Gate.  Babergh District Council, Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and the local County Councillor
